Alexey Shadrin speaks at MENA Climate Week

Visited by more than 4,000 people from all over the globe, Middle East and North Africa Climate Week 2022 is the first big event for Evercity in 2022. Evercity CEO Alexey Shadrin together with our advisors Katherine Foster and Miroslav Polzer took part in several high-level panels and meetings related to digital tech for climate action. Below are some of the statements on the blockchain trends in climate finance that he shared during the panel, hosted by the UNFCCC UN climate tech visionary and leader Massamba Thioye:

  • Improvement of existing climate finance instruments can be achieved through digitalization. It will make them cheaper, transparent, less complicated
  • Creating new instruments and derivatives will help the market evolve. For example, combining green bonds with carbon credits to incentivise investors is a promising concept.
  • Attracting new and private sector investors including retail and crypto to help the market grow. Make green finance sexy and attractive for young generation!
  • Open source approach wiill truly enable exchange of resources and ideas between the global north and south.
UAE is hosting the UN Climate Conference COP28 in 2023 and is becoming the regional leader for both climate finance and web3. We are now negotiating with local partners and investors who have shown active interest in cooperation. More exciting announcements to follow!
